Bellamy, Hoeft advance as district court judge nominees
LINCOLN — The state is moving closer to filling a judicial vacancy in Central Nebraska. Gov. Jim Pillen’s office announced Wednesday that the Judicial Nominating Commission forwarded two nominees to the governor for consideration: Melodie Bellamy on Kearney and Tim Hoeft of Holdrege. The nominees are vying to become a district court judge for the 10th Judicial District, which includes Adams, Clay, Franklin, Harlan, Kearney, Nuckolls, Phelps and Webster counties.

JULY 19, 2024 (NORTH PLATTE, NEB.) — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested a Texas man following a fatal crash in southwest Nebraska. Huskers to host St. Louis athlete at the end of the month
The Nebraska Cornhuskers will host a class of 2026 athlete on campus next month. Keenan Harris is scheduled to visit the Lincoln campus the weekend of July 26-28. Harris is a four-star prospect for Saint Louis University High in St. Louis, MO. Last season, he appeared in ten games, recording 95 total tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, and 1.0 sack. The Nebraska women’s tennis team continues to build its roster with the addition of sophomore transfers Yuzu Miyoshi and Tiziana Rossini for the 2024-25 season. Miyoshi competed at No. 1 singles and doubles as a freshman at Sophia University in Japan and was named the 2022 player of the year. From Kawasaki, Kagawa, Japan, Miyoshi joins the Big Red with three years of eligibility remaining. Prior to college, she competed in the Kanto Junior Tennis Championship and was named Japan Junior Tennis Tour Champions - Champion.
