Former Buff Alec Burks signs one-year deal with Miami Heat
Former Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball guard Alec Burks is headed to the Miami Heat on a one-year contract, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Burks began the 2023-2024 season with the Detroit Pistons before being traded to the New York Knicks at the trade deadline. The soon-to-be 33-year-old averaged 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists between the two teams. Three moose make their way to Northern Colorado plains
Three moose have wandered away from the foothills along the Front Range and are now navigating their way through the plains of Northern Colorado. Two cows and one bull moose have been spotted recently making their way through the small town of Nunn, east of I-25. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the three moose have been spotted in the area in the last two days. It is believed they followed rivers and creeks east, ultimately bringing them into Weld County. First human case of tularemia found in Jeffco
Jefferson County Public Health announced that the first case of tularemia has been found in a Wheat Ridge resident.JCPH describes tularemia as a bacterial disease that is associated with animals such as rodents and rabbits, along with insects, ticks and deerflies. "While tularemia is rare, it is important for residents to be aware of the symptoms and take preventive measures," said Rachel Reichardt, environmental health specialist with Jefferson County Public Health. "Prompt treatment with antibiotics is effective, so early diagnosis and medical attention are crucial." Symptoms of tularemia include fever, non-healing skin ulcer at the site of infection and swollen and painful lymph glands. Sore throat, mouth sores, abdominal pain and diarrhea can be symptoms if the infection is caused by ingesting contaminated food or water. Health officials say tularemia can be cured and to see a physician if you experience any symptoms associated with the infection after being in areas where contact with wildlife is possible.

There was not much fanfare when Fisher Scott became what is believed to be the first former Aspen Junior Leaf selected in the NHL draft on Saturday. Dock open just in time for holiday week
The new dock at the Akron Pond is ready just in time for the holiday week. The Town of Akron revealed its new ADA dock last week, and it’s already been a welcomed addition.
