A Cedartown-area man was back behind bars from a domestic incident over the weekend and later released on bond, according to a Polk County Police report.

Paul Linville Coley, 41, of a Cedartown address, was jailed on the evening of Sunday, June 30, after police were called out to a Ledbetter Road address after a report of a domestic altercation.

The report stated the victim told officers – and Coley later admitted – that he slapped a phone out of a victim’s hand and when confronted by a juvenile, nearly got physical with the youth.

Coley was found by officers sitting outside on a lawn chair and when confronted by the allegations made, admitted what happened and refused any medical treatment.

After being taken into custody and put in the back of a patrol vehicle, Coley told police it was “against his religion” to wear a seat belt while being driven to jail and wasn’t given a choice since it is PCPD policy that every suspect be belted while in transit. He allowed it after he was told he would receive an obstruction charge for continuing to refuse the seat belt.

Once police arrived with Coley at the jail, he was reported to have begun “arguing with jail staff.”

“Suspect became violent and had to be placed in the restraint chair for safety of the staff,” the report added. “While jail staff got control over the suspect he made vague threats to the staff and he also made references to ‘THE 212’.”

Coley was released on a $2,000 bond on the pair of misdemeanor simple assault charges on Tuesday.

This was Coley’s second arrest in recent months . Back at the beginning of May, Coley was jailed following an incident where he drove up to a random residence and trespassed on their property late at night, and attempted to flee before being involved in a DUI wreck.

During his previous arrest, Coley was also reported to have become vulgar with officials at the Polk County Jail.
