UPDATE:
The Georgia Department of Driver Services went down due to the Crowdstrike outage, per the Associated Press this morning.
They are experiencing outages at around 60 local offices statewide, per their reporting.
Additionally, Atrium Health Floyd Polk Medical Center posted earlier this morning they were monitoring the situation, and if any individual patient’s appointment or procedure was going to be impacted by the outage they would be contacted individually.

Local governments are among those impacted by an outage of a platform called Crowdstrike used by a variety of companies and government organizations around the globe.
Cedartown City Manager Edward Guzman confirmed that the city’s software platform that handles payments was knocked out. For now, the city will only accept cash and check for payments made for city services like water bills.
Only minor issues have been caused with internal system at the City of Rockmart due to the outage, per City Manager Stacey Smith. That software does not impact customers being able to pay their water bills normally, or other bills due to the city today.
Thus far the only issue reported is local 911 operators having some issues connecting with the Georgia Crime Information Center system (GCIC) during the overnight hours, per one County Official.
Many other companies around the globe ranging from banking to airlines and more in between are being impacted by the Crowdstrike outage. Planes have been grounded in the meantime, and officials have been working overnight to get access back to customers at banks around the world (during their daytime working hours in nations like India, where their banking sector took a big hit from the outage.)
Those with travel plans should reconsider their trip to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta for the time being, as a majority of the flights are marked as ‘late’ or ‘very late’ by Flightview.com.
The Federal Aviation Administration put the current late times at 1 hour and 10 minutes due to the interruption caused by the outage.
Among the other interruptions caused by the outage were with 911 centers around the nation. Issues were reported in Alaska, New Hampshire, Iowa and Virginia with receiving emergency calls.
Media around the globe is reporting that the outage was caused by a faulty update to the Crowdstrike software that impacts computers running Microsoft Windows. The company is working on an update and hopes to have a fix in place soon. Airlines, banks, media companies and governments have all reported issues overnight due to the outage.
