Matt Matthews Appointed UT System Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs
KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee System has named Matt Matthews as associate vice president for academic affairs. He will begin the role on Aug. 15. In this role, Matthews will provide leadership and coordination in academic policy, programs, reporting and other academic initiatives. He will work collaboratively with campus chief academic officers and their staffs, as well as various system- and campus-level units, to promote greater alignment, collaboration and communication across the UT System.

Trial nearing for Tompkinsville woman charged with murder of Uber driver
El PASO, Texas (WBKO) – A Tompkinsville woman charged with the 2023 murder of a Texas Uber driver is expected to stand trial in August. Phoebe Copas, 48, of Tompkinsville, is charged with the murder of Daniel J. Piedra Garcia, 52, who police say was shot in the back of the head while driving a car on June 16, 2023. He died two days later.
