6 Massachusetts residents charged in double murder that left 5 others injured
Lynn, Mass. – The Office of Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker has charged six suspects in connection to the drive-by shooting that left Jandriel Heredia, 21, of Revere, and Abraham Diaz, 25, of Lynn dead, and five others injured. The shooting took place at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at a gathering held at 189 Essex Street in Lynn. The following defendants have been charged with two counts of murder: Justin Alba, 25, of Peabody; and Lynn residents Darwin Batista, 20; Yefferson Vallecillo Cambar, 22; Carlos Ramirez Corniel, 16; Leonardo Espinoza, 15; and Abel Severino Reyes, 21.

Stress from caring for dementia patients can cause health problems, study says
BOSTON - Caring for someone with dementia can be incredibly stressful and a new study finds that stress can cause damage on a cellular level, which can lead to mental and physical health problems.One way to gauge a person's cellular health is to determine how much energy is left over after they perform daily activities, similar to a car. The more energy or fuel you have left over after a drive, the better your fuel efficiency, mileage, and overall performance.A team at Rice University studied more than 100 caregivers of spouses with Alzheimer's and other dementias and found that those with less leftover cellular energy were less able to engage in physical activities such as walking and carrying groceries, and they had fewer positive emotions such as feelings of excitement, inspiration, and alertness compared to caregivers with more leftover energy. Less leftover cellular energy has also been linked to higher inflammation which can lead to a host of mental and physical health problems, even dementia itself.

High (altitude) school: Grant helps North Country students rebuild and fly an airplane
Students at a high school aviation program in North Conway are getting the chance to rebuild a defunct plane — and put it back in the air. The Mount Washington Valley Career and Technical Center in North Conway, New Hampshire and the Eastern Slope Aviation Academy in Fryeburg, Maine have received a $500,000 federal grant to fund the project. Over the next two years, that money will pay for the supplies, curriculum and instruction to help the students rehabilitate a 1971 Grumman American aircraft donated to the school.
