ETEX connects 100th customer in Shelby County

In a major leap towards enhancing digital connectivity in Center, Etex has marked a significant milestone in its fiber broadband deployment project. The initiative, a collaborative effort with the Center Economic Corporation (EDC), began in November 2022 with a vision to provide affordable, high-speed internet access for local businesses and residents.

With a robust investment from the EDC exceeding $4 million focused on reliable broadband for local businesses but understanding the need for a scalable network that could serve the entire community. Construction kicked off early in 2023, and by August 2024, the primary fiber lines were completed.

The ambitious project is already bearing fruit. Etex crews have been diligently working to connect customers, and the company is on track to install service for over 200 customers by the end of the year. A notable achievement in this endeavor was reached on August 9, when Center resident Henry Morris became the 100th customer to be connected.
