2-0 Timpson Bears vs. 2-0 Westwood Panthers Timpson at home - 9/6 - Kickoff 7:30 PM Timpson ISD website for tickets The Bears are home this week, playing host to the Westwood Panthers. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Westwood shut out San Augustine last week 56-0 and will be looking to stop JJ Garner and the Bears’ high-scoring, electrifying offense. The Panthers will find that a lot tougher than the internet is predicting with pre-season speculation by some about this possibly being a tough season for the Timpson Bears with a new head coach and the loss of key starters from the championship year; but no one told the Bears they were supposed to struggle in 2024. This will be a close game with two high-scoring offenses. Keys to the game will be turnovers, ball control, and special teams, all areas in which the Bears excel.

Lovelady Lions 48 vs. Timpson Bears 50 Depending on which internet site you get your scores from, the Timpson Bears defeated the Lovelady Lions at home this past Friday night 4644, 48-50, or 46-50. But no matter the source, the outcome is the same: the Timpson Bears continue winning with a 2-0 season start as defending state champions.

1-1 Joaquin Rams vs. 0-2 Tenaha Tigers Joaquin High School - 9/13, Kickoff 7:30 p.m. (9/6) Joaquin Rams 24 vs. Beckville Bearcats 28 (9/5) Tenaha Tigers 21 vs. West Sabine Tigers 68 Broadcast on the NFHS Network https://www.nfhsnetwork. com/ Tenaha hits the road to face the Joaquin Rams in non-district play. The Tenaha Tigers are 0-2, dropping their first two games of the 2024 season, and will look to improve when they face the Joaquin Rams, who are currently a game better off at 1-1.

The Rams will be at home this week.

Joaquin won their season opener against the Frankston Indians by a score of 65-44 and lost a close one on the road to the Beckville Bearcats. Non-district games are often used as tune-ups for district play; this coming matchup should be no different as both teams will look to improve in the 2024 season but, more importantly, define and fine-tune for district play. If you love to watch inter-county teams fight it out on the gridiron, this matchup will not disappoint.

2-0 Center Roughriders vs. 1-0 North DeSoto Griffins Center High School 9/13, Kickoff 7:00 p.m.

(9/6) Center Roughriders 49 vs. Spring Hill Panthers 28 Watch LIVE: https:// www.youtube.com/@ NETsnLive The Center Roughriders are off to a great start with two non-district wins under the lights of Friday Night. With North DeSoto headed to Shelby County, the boys in Center will look to improve on Friday night. The game will be broadcast on the NETsn network, and as always, the post-game show is on Mondays on the same YouTube channel.

Stat for stat, the Roughriders will be tossing the ball on Friday with an average of 348 yards per game in the air. The Griffins also like to pass the ball and average 318 yards per game. By average, the Roughriders are outscoring their opponents and have a 7-point edge over North DeSoto.

Jeremy Bluford leads the ground game for the Roughriders, putting up 69 yards and a TD vs. Spring Hill.

2-0 Shelbyville Dragons vs. 1-1 Waskom Wildcats Shelbyville High School - 9/13, Kickoff 7:00 PM (9/6) 2-0 Shelbyville Dragons 40 vs. 0-1 New Boston Lions 27 The Shelbyville Dragons are off to a solid start, putting up solid wins against New Boston last week and Troup in the season opener. This week, the Dragons look to play host to the Waskom Wildcats, now 1-1 for their season, after losing a close one to Garrison, which is always an unyielding team. Last week, Waskom had a resounding victory over Hemphill, but Garrison was the real telltale game, and bouncing back from that close loss shows the heart of the Wildcat Team.

Shelbyville’s DJ Barnes, with 6 points on the board for the Dragons, showed his foot speed in a 52-yard TD run on a QB keeper through the tackle/ guard, leaving New Boston wondering who that masked man was. Expect this and more; Waskom will have to contend with a very mobile quarterback in Barnes.
