When you hit the road, beat the national champions, and snap their 16-game winning streak, a team will get their deserved attention. The Texas Longhorns did all that and a little more as they jumped over Ohio State to capture the #2 spot on the AP Poll this week. The Coaches Poll traditionally is a little harder to impress, keeping the Horns at number 3. What do the

    Examination

Longhorns need to do in week three to gain enough attention to jump to the top dog spot on both polls?

Unfortunately, not even a high-scoring blowout against the Mississippi State Bulldogs will accomplish that lofty goal, at least not in week 3. Short of a loss from the current #1 Georgia Bulldogs, who are facing off with Kentucky, neither Texas nor Georgia will likely change spots on at least the AP Poll. Ohio State has Marshall this week, so don’t expect too much movement from the top three on the polls.

After an excellent confidence- boosting rout of McNeese State at 52-10 in week 2, whom they should have seen in week 1, the Aggies will have more fun facing the Florida Gators this week after some bone-headed scheduler for the Aggies slated Notre Dame in week 1, and we all know how that turned out.

The Aggies are favored to beat Florida; I don’t believe it to be a blowout as predicted by some.

Terry Bussey Watch: Timpson’s Terry Bussey lit up the scoreboard for the Aggies Saturday with a 65-yard TD run. Bussey had 2 carries for 65 yards and the score.

Houston! Texans! The Houston Texans hit the road to Indianapolis, where the trash talk constantly flows, but the scoreboard speaks louder than smack. The Texans made a few errors, and the team is still finding its groove, but glimpses of the future were very bright for the South Texas darlings as they finished off the game looking like a real team on the rise. Houston vs Indianapolis 29-27.

The Texans look now toward the Chicago Bears, a non-divisional matchup that is easier for our boys. RB Joe Mixon and WR Stefon Diggs, both acquired this season, are seasoned vets that already look to be the stars of the Texans offense; add in second- year QB C.J. Stroud, and the future in Houston looks bright, all the way to the AFC Championship game.

That’s right, I’m calling it after week 1, Texans vs. Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

Dak Prescott has the money, but has he got the game? Prescott will average 60 million dollars a year. Leading the Cowboys to three straight 12-win seasons means the Cowboys are in heaven to keep Prescott under the stars, but can he deliver the goods?

He did in week 1, dropping the Browns like a wrong interior design color 33-17. As a devoted Texan fan, it is always fun to report that former Texan Deshaun Watson struggled in his week 1 matchup with the Cowboys.

Dallas faces the New Orleans Saints in week 2, and the bookmakers are not Dallas-friendly, posting a 6.5 underdog for the boys. Dallas is still a team that is finding itself. Too many stars, not enough moons. The Saints may just be the most underrated team in the NFC this season.
