DPS reports Saturday fatality crash near Center
DPS reports Saturday fatality crash near Center News Staff Thu, 08/10/2023 - 05:11 Image Body Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that Troopers investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash, August 5, 2023, on U.S. 96, about one and one-half miles north of Center. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 9:10 a.m., a 2023 Dodge passenger car was traveling north and failed to drive in a single lane and drove off the roadway where it struck a tree, ejecting the driver. The driver was identified as 45-year-old Michael Whisenant from Center was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Shelby County Justice of the Peace. The crash is under investigation. Additional information was not provided with the DPS release.
