Summer fun at the library News Staff Thu, 07/27/2023 - 05:51 Image Summer fun at the library Body Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library Director Sandra Davis and Librarian Assistant for Grants Roy Davis were guests at the Center Noon Lions Club meeting Thursday, July 20.The Davis’ reviewed the library’s summer reading and fun programs for all ages, plus some of the services available at the library.The Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library is located at 619 Tenaha Street in Center. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Closed Sunday. Phone 936-598-5522.

Another is a history of post offices and communities. A photo of Daniel McSwain III who was a part of building the 1885 Historic Courthouse in Center is part of the new exhibit at the Shelby County Museum.

Shelby County bans all outdoor burning News Staff Thu, 07/27/2023 - 05:51 Image Shelby County bans all outdoor burning Body A county-imposed burn ban prohibiting all forms of outdoor burning is in place. The order signed by County Judge Alllison Harbison was issued Friday, July 21 for the unincorporated areas of Shelby County. According to the proclamation, the burn ban issued “shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of the declaration unless continued or renewed by the Commissioners Court of Shelby County.” The order does not prohibit outdoor burning activities carried out by Federal Certified Agencies. The burn ban declaration activates the Shelby County Emergency Management Plan.
