Iowa City man accused of drinking, driving with two kids in the backseat
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - An Iowa City man was arrested after allegedly drinking and driving with two children in the backseat of his car on Sunday afternoon. A criminal complaint says James Caldwell, 46, was at Defy trampoline park, at 851 Highway 6 East in Iowa City, at around 2:12 p.m. when other people there complained to staff that Caldwell was drunk.

Waterloo Woman Assaulted 5 People
A Waterloo woman is in jail after allegedly assaulting at least five people on Friday, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police says 57 year old Dana Leohr was at a home at 612 Newton Street where she hit or punched two people before getting in her car and driving away. She then allegedly drove her car at a group of people on Riehl Street but missed them and hit a construction trailer and two houses. She was arrested and taken to Allen Hospital where she allegedly punched a police officer in the face. She is now facing assault charges and OWI. Leohr has a history of assaulting police officers. In 2016, she was arrested for Public Intoxication. During that arrest she kicked and punched one officer and grabbed another’s testicles.
FBI Investigates Cedar Falls Ransomware Incident
Details about a startling incident involving the city of Cedar Falls is coming to light. According to a report from Cedar Falls officials, there was allegedly some sort of ransomware attack in the month of June. Officials have confirmed that on June 19th, 2024, the city detected this ransomware event.
Randalia no longer a city, officially unincorporates
RANDALIA, Iowa (KCRG) - Randalia, only of the smallest cities in Eastern Iowa with a population of around 50 people, is no longer considered a city at all. The Fayette County Baord of Supervisors said it was always up to the few residents of Randalia to run the whole city. They had to serve on the city council, maintain the roads and streets, and build their own wastewater treatment plant. Finding people and the money to do those jobs was part of why the city decided to unincorporate. Randalia was officially unincorporated on June 30.
River levels force Freight House Farmers’ Market to relocate
River levels have forced the Freight House Farmers’ Market to relocate again temporarily. It was crowded as vendors were set up in the parking lot of the Scott County Administrative Center on 4th St. in Davenport, especially since a lot of fresh produce is available. This is not the first time the market has had to move, so vendors try to take it in stride. The market will be back open Sunday, July 6 from 10 a.m. 2:00 p.m. The Freight House Farmers’ Market will stay in the Administrative Center parking lot until flood waters recede and the city can clean up the area.

East Moline man dead in LeClaire after vehicle strikes tree
LE CLAIRE, Iowa — An East Moline man is dead after his vehicle crashed into a tree in LeClaire on Monday, July 8. LeClaire police discovered the vehicle just before 5 a.m. near the T-intersection of Forest Grove Road and SW 35th Street. Officials said the driver, the sole occupant, was slumped over the steering wheel.
Dubuque speed cameras on hold
Dubuque’s plans to install automatic traffic enforcement cameras will have to wait until at least 2026. A new Iowa law limiting how cities and counties can use traffic cameras went into effect July 1st. It creates standards for citations drivers can receive and puts a two-year moratorium on new traffic cameras. Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh insists the traffic enforcement cameras are a tool to further public safety. Mayor Cavanagh plans to push for approval of their traffic camera program as soon as the state allows.
