Labor Day Weekend craft fair to take place at Gunstock
GILFORD — The Labor Day Weekend Gunstock Craft Fair will take place Aug. 31-Sept. 1, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford. There will be over 110 exhibitors including hand painted glass/metal/wood/mushrooms, folk art, handcrafted inlaid wooden mirrors and tables, chainsaw wood carvings with demonstrations by Elise, pottery, custom leather belts and totes/pocketbooks, acrylic and watercolor fine art, oils and vinegars, pressed floral art, NH maple syrups, hand poured soaps, soy candles, several jewelry styles, quilts and quilted wall-hangings, charcuterie boards, children's chalkboard mats, unique macrame furniture, wildlife photography, custom signs, and baked goods. North River Band will perform live music both days.
Opechee Garden Club presents Putting the Garden to Bed program
GILFORD — Opechee Garden Club will host the program Putting the Garden to Bed on Monday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m., at Gilford Community Church, 2 Potter Hill Road. During the presentation attendees will learn the steps necessary to properly prepare a garden for winter, including finishing off annuals and vegetable beds, preparing perennial beds to reduce pests and disease, overwintering non-hardy plants, readying ornamental shrubs and evergreens to survive various winter conditions, and tending to tools and supplies.
British historian David Reynolds to hold book signing at Country Bookseller on Sept. 7
WOLFEBORO — British historian, author, and professor David Reynolds will be at The Country Bookseller on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2-3 p.m. to sign copies of his book “Mirrors of Greatness: Churchill and the Leaders Who Shaped Him.” Winston Churchill is one of the most celebrated statesmen of the 20th century, revered for his finest hour as Britain's resolute wartime leader. He's often seen as a solitary genius, but Reynolds invites readers to look more closely at the dark days of 1940 — offering a novel interpretation of what made Churchill great.
