PWPS names January challenge winners

• First Place Favorite “Spiral Staircase” by Lawrence C. Davis.
• Third Place Favorite was “Colored Grasses” Billie Haggard Jones.
• Second Place Favorite “Ice Bubbles” by Bobbie Jean Woods.

The Piney Woods Photographic Society (PWPS) held their first meeting of the 2024 year Saturday, Jan. 20. The January Challenge was “Photographer’s Choice.” Club members submitted up to three photographs of their choosing for discussion and voting. A workshop was also presented by Billie Haggard Jones on “Finding the Picture in the Picture,” photographing macros (extreme close-ups) and close-ups.

If you got a new camera for Christmas and need help learning how to use it, or would just like help to become a better photographer, please feel free to attend the next PWPS meeting, the third Saturday of the month, at the First Methodist Church, 211 Cora St. in Center, starting at 9 a.m.

The PWPS features programs and activities with information and instruction for all skill levels in an environment of support and cooperation and gives everyone a place to meet others who share a passion for photography.
