The Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center celebrated another successful event with its 13th Butterfly Release Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Tanner Peace, President of the Board of Directors of the SCCAC, extended a welcome on the lawn of the Shelby County Historic Courthouse to everyone attending saying that what is done by the SCCAC would not be possible without everyone’s support.

Rob Merriman gave the invocation and Mayor David Chadwick spoke on the impact of the Children’s Advocacy on aiding abused children. Chadwick, as he always does, then offered the symbolism of the butterfly with the Indian legend of telling a secret to a butterfly, and how that is used to encourage a child to tell someone about their problems. Someone to can trust when something is going wrong in their life.

Chadwick then delivered the official “release” for the butterflies.
