SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A local ministry is set to host a back-to-school event on Saturday. Refreshing Point Ministries is gearing up to host an exciting Back-to-School Bootcamp on Saturday, July 27. This free event will be held from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 9279 Linwood Avenue in Shreveport.

At approximately 10:39 PM CDT Monday, July 22, 2024, an earthquake occurred between Snyder and Roby Texas, just north of Highway 180 at 10:38 PM CDT. At 10:46 PM CDT, an aftershock with a magnitude of 4.4 struck in roughly the same location. The magnitude 4.9 is tied for the 8th strongest to impact Texas in recorded history, tied with the magnitude 4.9 earthquake that hit near Loving, NM that occurred on July 21, 2022, nearly 2 years ago to the date.

NSU will introduce Genovese Tuesday
Northwestern State University will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 ,to introduce James. T. Genovese as the university’s 21st president. The event will be in the Sylvan Friedman Student Union Ballroom. All in the community are invited. Genovese, who has served as an associate justice on the Louisiana Supreme Court, was named the university’s president July 18 and will assume office in August.
