Dave Buhler, longtime commissioner of higher education and politician, dies at 67
SALT LAKE CITY — Dave Buhler, a longtime politician and former Utah commissioner of higher education, has died at the age of 67. "Dave Buhler was a pillar of the community who was dedicated to public service," Utah Gov. Spencer Cox wrote in a statement posted Wednesday to the social media platform X. "Abby and I are grateful for his friendship, his generosity and his commitment to our state. We send our deepest condolences to his family and offer prayers of gratitude for his life well lived."
Snow College Athlete Dies In Car Crash
A Snow College wrestler from Alaska has passed away in a car crash. In a post to the USA Wrestling – Utah page it was shared, “it is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Luke Peltier…who lost his life in an automobile accident on Wednesday in Utah. Luke was a standout athlete at Snow College and had exciting plans to continue his wrestling career at Utah Valley University.” It was shared that the crash occurred near Richfield, but no other information was released.
Switchpoint receives $3.8M from Church of Jesus Christ, Walker and Miller funds
SALT LAKE CITY — Switchpoint, a nonprofit organization that combats homelessness and poverty, announced $3.8 million in new funding Thursday. The funds came from the Olene Walker Housing Loan Fund ($1.8 million), the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation ($1 million) and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ($1 million).
