Two police officers shot in Waterloo expected to recover, suspect killed
WATERLOO, Iowa — Waterloo Police say two officers were shot and wounded by a suspect that was killed at the scene. Officers were called to the 200 block of Manson for a report of a man with a gun around 8:20am Sunday. Authorities are not providing many details but say that the officer-involved shooting happened in the 1200 block of E 4th Street. That's where the suspect involved was killed. Investigators have not confirmed the suspect died from gunfire by police.

Arizona man with potentially fatal BAC level arrested for OWI after crash on I-80 in Iowa City
An alleged drunk driver with a potentially fatal amount of alcohol in his system has been arrested after a crash on Interstate 80 in Iowa City. Iowa City Police were called to an accident involving a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria on westbound I-80 near the Dubuque Street exit just before 9:15 Saturday night. Investigators say the driver…20-year-old Gregor Pratt of Peoria, Arizona…had an open can of “The Beast” hard energy drink under his seat, with a half-empty box of the same Monster-produced beverage on the side of the road. Paramedics say Pratt was in and out of consciousness in the ambulance. Pratt reportedly showed signs of impairment, and his breath alcohol level was measured at .375% on a portable Breathalyzer test. He refused Datamaster testing.

Inspiration Stables hosts grand opening to celebrate new home
LA MOTTE, Iowa (KCRG) - On Sunday, an Eastern Iowa non profit is holding a grand opening for its new space. Inspiration Stables is an adaptive horseback riding program designed for children with special needs. Liz Grayson is the Director of Operations at Inspiration Stables. She says right now, they have six horses and some mini ponies helping more than 20 kids. “I’ve seen some, you know, amazing things. And I’ve worked in the upper levels of eventing and show jumping and things like that. And this work has been really rewarding in a much different way that just really warms, you know, your heart. It’s been more rewarding than, you know, getting a gold medal,” says Grayson.
