Hawkeyes Earn AVCA Team Academic Award
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, the organization announced on Wednesday. The Hawkeyes have been recognized for this honor twice, previously in 2014. To obtain the honor, the team must maintain a year-long GPA of at least 3.30. The Hawkeyes held a 3.52 GPA throughout the year. A record number of schools earned the award this season, with over 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs showcasing their excellence in the classroom. Intense night of racing at Davenport Speedway
The final night of racing at Davenport Speedway before the Mississippi Valley Fair is usually an intense one, such was the case again this season. For the first time this year, the Outhouse and Storage to Go Container Rentals IMCA Late Model class had a back-to-back feature winner. Evan Miller started in the fourth row and would not see the lead until lap twenty-two of the main. Once in front, Miller pulled away and ended with a 1.323 second advantage over second place Jesse Bodin.

Quad Cities, IA/IL – Reports of funnel clouds have been received west of Washington, IA. Conditions are favorable for isolated funnel clouds with rain showers in southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri, and west central Illinois through 7 PM. These funnel clouds are higher up in the sky and are not anticipated to reach the ground.

Paula Wachholtz of Panora and Cathy Ballard of Guthrie Center were honored June 25 during the annual Iowa 2024 Governor’s Volunteer Awards ceremony.
