The Crook County High School baseball team tuned up for the state playoffs with a last-minute contest against the Ridgeview Ravens Wednesday afternoon in Redmond.

The game, which does not count in the OSAA power rankings, was won 15-5 by Ridgeview in five innings.

Crook County opened the game with a pair of runs in the first inning. However, the Ravens countered with three runs in the first and five in the second to take control. Crook County added solo runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings, but that was not enough as the Ravens scored one in the third, five in the fourth, and one in the fifth before the game was called due to the 10-run rule.

Crook County finished with seven hits in the game while Ridgeview had eight. However, a trio of Crook County pitchers walked five batters and hit four with pitches, while three Raven pitchers walked just one and hit just one batter. In addition, just eight of Ridgeview's 15 runs were scored as earned runs.

Tyis Yustat had a double in the game while Ethan Lamphere ripped a triple. Hayden Forman and Tyson Martinez each went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Clayton Dill also had a single in the contest. Martinez and Zach Allen each stole a base.

With the loss, the eighth-ranked Cowboys fell to 19-6 on the season, while the Class 5A Ravens, who are ranked fourth in the final OSAA power rankings, improve to 22-5.

Crook County, runner-up in the Tri-Valley Conference, will host a playoff game on Tuesday, May 21, against a yet to be determined opponent. North Bend, 14-8, is the most likely opponent. However, the Bulldogs must first survive a play-in game against Stayton, 11-14.
