    It's rodeo time again.

The 75th annual Paulina Amateur Rodeo is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 1 in Paulina.

This year's rodeo nearly didn't happen. With fires in the Paulina area the Forest Service was using the rodeo grounds as a staging area for their wildland firefighters.

However, with the fires largely under control the Forest Service will vacate the rodeo grounds no later than Friday, Aug. 23, leaving rodeo organizers a week to ready the grounds for the rodeo.

The Paulina Rodeo is known for its family atmosphere, with plenty of activities for kids of all ages. In addition to the usual adult rodeo events of bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, ranch bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway roping and barrel racing there will also be local team roping, wild cow milking, steer riding, a kid's barrel race, sheep riding along with a boot scramble on Saturday and an animal scramble on Sunday.

Rodeo action is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. both days.

Cost for the rodeo is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. Camping is available on the rodeo grounds on a first come, first served basis. Even organizers want to remind people that the Paulina Store is currently not open, so individuals who plan on camping need to make sure that they bring all necessary supplies.

In addition to the rodeo there will be a barbecue on Saturday, a breakfast Sunday at the community hall, a rodeo scholarship raffle as well as a Saturday performance by Matt Martin and the .45s.
