The Ochoco National Forest is inviting families and community members to join staff for a “Spooktacular” evening of spooky stories and hot cocoa around a crackling fire.

The free event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m., at the Ochoco Forest Camp Pavilion, 33700 NE Ochoco Ranger Station Loop, Prineville.

Ochoco officials explained that the family-friendly event offers a chance to “experience the eerie side of the forest as forest rangers share real-life tales of mystery and adventure drawn from the forest’s history. These stories will send shivers down your spine as you sip complimentary hot cocoa by the fire.”

Participants are encouraged to dress warmly, bring blankets or chairs and prepare for a spooky, fun-filled night under the stars. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.

For more information, contact the Ochoco National Forest office, 541-416-6500.
