Three injured in Saturday morning crash on I-84 in Newburgh
NEWBURGH – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84 just east of State Route 17K entrance ramp on Saturday morning in Newburgh. One driver was in cardiac arrest and first responders were performing CPR on the victim. Two others were transported to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The Orange Lake/Winona Lake Fire Department responded to the accident, along with the State Police, Town of Newburgh Police, and EMS.

Upon police arrival, it was determined that a male victim, 43, was involved in a verbal argument with two individuals which escalated into a physical altercation. During the incident, defendant Jelony Conze, 21, used his 2005 Nissan Altima to strike the victim. Defendant Conze exited the vehicle, with a machete, and slashed the victim’s hands multiple times causing severe lacerations.
