Blue Skies Drones opened its new storefront and warehouse Tuesday, June 25, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the facility and demonstrations of airborne and underwater drones.

Dale Hylton and Tiffany Hatch have been running Blue Skies for almost 10 years. Originally a mostly online store, Blue Skies moved from its smaller storefront at 209 South Tower Ave. to their new location at 1319 Grand Ave. in Centralia.

The move provides the business with more storage space and an opportunity to begin offering training classes, which will enable attendees to receive their commercial drone flying licenses. This license is necessary for those who intend to fly their drone for a profit or to offer services to clients and employers.

In addition to its upcoming training services, Blue Skies will continue to offer the same top notch quality of repairs, resells and rentals that they have for the past 10 years, according to a news release from the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Hylton said the company offers drones ranging from smaller consumer use flying drones to industrial models.

Sales specialist Garrett Clark flew a drone over the crowd to take a video of Hylton cutting the ribbon.

The ceremony was overseen by Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cynthia Mudge, who provided Hylton and Hatch with large, ceremonial scissors to cut the ribbon.

Following the ceremony, Hylton and Hatch welcomed those present into the warehouse to get out of the heat and enjoy tours, demos and refreshments. The event continued with air and waterborne drone demonstrations by Clark and drone repair technician Joshua Hylton.
