CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A bridge replacement project in Centre County will be kicking off on July 8, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation(PennDOT).

PennDOT is alerting drivers that starting on Monday work will begin on the replacement project for the bridge on Route 504 (Black Moshannon Road) in Rush Township. The project is set to improve the safety and ride quality for drivers.

They’ll be improving the conditions of the structure from poor to good, according to PennDOT. The contractor will begin to construct a temporary roadway that will route traffic around the work zone while the current structure is removed. As the material is placed for the temporary roadway, flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours.

A six-day detour will be announced at a later date, to be implemented during the placement of a new concrete box culvert bridge.
