Smurfit Westrock is now operating in Stevenson
Smurfit Westrock cuts the ribbon on Stevenson Plant. STEVENSON, ALA. On Tuesday, July 9, the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce participated in a ribbon cutting for Smurfit Westrock, formerly known as Westrock. The Chamber stated, “Congratulations to Smurfit-Westrock on being the go-to as a sustainable packaging partner of choice. Thank you for the outstanding hospitality during your ribbon cutting, and thank you for being a part of the bigger picture for Jackson County.” The plant is located at 1611 County Road 85, Stevenson.
Update: Delays in Florence from crash at Huntsville Road and Cox Creek Parkway
UPDATE: Roadway has been cleared. Florence Police Department says There is a vehicle crash at Huntsville Road and Cox Creek Parkway near Green Valley Nursery. Police are advising avoid the area if possible and expect delays if you have to travel that way.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A recently filed bill would require Alabamians to obtain a permit for carrying assault weapons, whether on their person or in their vehicle. House Bill 23, introduced by Rep.
