Carver Jones Market opened in Fairfield on Wednesday, the first grocery offering fresh meat and produce in the city in nearly a decade. The Rev. Family-owned Alabama restaurant closing after more than 65 years
A long-time staple of dining in the Shoals area is closing. Jody’s Restaurant in Tuscumbia, a family-owned eatery which has been in business since 1958, is closing Aug. 4. The restaurant, located at 1460 Alabama 20, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Regular customers turned up for its meat-and-three menu of Southern cooking, with an occasional helping of peach cobbler.
Florence City Council appoints a new member to fill the District 2 chair
FLORENCE, Ala. (WAFF) - There is a new member on Florence’s City council. The council elected the owner of Party Pros Jackie Hendrix to fill the District Two seat. Hendrix was one of five candidates chosen to fill the opening that was created when Dick Jordan stepped down in July.

Two days after his twin brother — Derick Smith flipped from the Alabama Crimson Tide to the Auburn Tigers, 2025 wide receiver Erick Smith has landed an offer from the Crimson Tide. The two Smith brothers play for Southside-Selma High School in Selma, Alabama. Erick plays wide receiver wheras his brother, Derick, plays both wide receiver and safety.
