CENTREVILLE — Due to grant requirement delays, the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners approved a reallocation of $300,000 in Rural Maryland Economic Development Funding from the upcoming Centreville Wastewater Treatment Plant projects to the Queen Anne’s County 4-H Park July 9.

Unable to meet certain plant upgrades within the required grant time due to delays in funding and permitting, the Town of Centreville requested allocating the $300,000 in funding from wastewater project upgrades to ongoing 4-H Park improvements.

The Commissioners also approved reducing the Town of Centreville Wastewater Project grant to $200,000 with a due date extension to June 30, 2025.

The Maryland Department of Commerce and Upper Shore Regional Council awarded Queen Anne’s County $2.9 million in grant funds through the Rural Maryland Economic Development Fund. Through this funding, the commissioners voted to fund 11 projects in August 2022, according to County Administrator Todd Mohn.

Centreville requested that the county still fund $200,000 for the wastewater facility along with an extension of time to June 30, 2025 to complete the work.

The reallocation request and the timeline extension was preliminarily approved by the Maryland Department of Commerce and USRC.
