Curt Cignetti is the new head football coach at Indiana, taking over from Tom Allen this season. Cignetti was one of the stars at Big Ten media days. His remarks to assembled media in Indianapolis were more colorful, humorous, and generally interesting than most of the other speeches delivered by the 18 coaches in the new-look conference. Indiana is one of the little guys in the Big Ten, predicted to finish near the bottom, alongside UCLA. Cignetti was feisty and lively at the podium, noting that at his previous coaching stops in smaller college conferences, his teams were usually favored to win the league title. Now it’s all different.
Rash of Burglaries Terrifying Residents
Residents are on edge as a fifth home has been burglarized in the west valley in the last two weeks. A home on Rubio Avenue in Encino was hit last night. This follows two burglaries in Woodland Hills on July 12 in the 4500 block of Del Moreno and 4400 block of Winnetka, another home in Encino the same night in the 16000 block of Morrison Street, and a home in the 4900 block of Edgerton Street in Encino that was hit twice – July 11 and 15.

UCLA gymnastics might look unrecognizable in 2025. For the second time in three years, UCLA’s coaching staff will experience significant turnover. Apparently, it's the norm in hundreds of cities!According to a recent study from Zillow, the typical "starter home" - which is defined as being among those in the lowest third of home values in a given region - is worth at least $1 million in 237 cities, the highest number of cities ever.Plus, almost half of those cities are in California.New York and New Jersey took the No. 2 and No. 3 spots on the list while Florida and Massachusetts rounded out the top five.According to Zillow, the typical starter home nationwide is worth less than $200,000, which is more of a down payment in Southern California."Home buyers are battling affordability and availability today. So much so that $1 million is the norm for a starter home in hundreds of cities," said Orphe Divounguy, a senior economist at Zillow. "However, it's looking more and more like there will be some good news ahead for first-time buyers.
