Century man seriously injured in crash on State Road 4 in Escambia County: FHP

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A Century man was seriously injured in a Wednesday morning crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP Troopers said the crash happened on State Road 4 (West Highway 4) around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, after a78-year-old Century man driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer on eastbound West Highway 4 pulled over to the eastbound shoulder and exited his vehicle to check his tire.

A black Dodge Charger stopped in the roadway approximately 5 feet from the stopped vehicle and Century man, according to the report. A red SUV then collided with the rear of the Dodge and pushed it into the eastbound shoulder, where it hit the man, reports said.

The man was taken to Baptist Hospital with serious injuries by Escambia EMS.

There has been no update on the man’s condition.
