Wayforward has shifted gears with their Evil Dead game franchise as they’re now making a platforming game featuring Ash Williams himself, and Halloween is also getting the treatment.

Today, Wayforward, in collaboration with Boss Team Games, has pulled back the curtain to reveal RetroRealms. RetroRealms allows players to traverse popular worlds in a retro pixelated aesthetic while also using a more modern gameplay approach. The first two titles revealed by the new announcement are Halloween and Ash vs Evil Dead — the latter getting a complete makeover from the previous asymmetrical horror title also released by Boss Team Games — and they feature blood, adventure and pixels. Wayforward has also released a trailer (published by IGN), amd can be seen below.

CEO of Boss Team Games, Steve Harris, said, “Everyone at Boss Team Games is a huge fan of horror, and getting to work with these legendary properties is a dream come true. It has been an amazing experience collaborating with WayForward and our licensors to create not one but two fast-paced 90s arcade-style games while remaining true to the original Halloween film and ‘ Ash vs Evil Dead ’ series.”

The President of Wayforward, Voldi Way has also applauded the mash-up with “Taking a modern horror franchise and creating the kind of retro gameplay that WayForward excels at has allowed us to create something that we know fans of Pixel Art games , ‘Halloween,’ and ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ alike will enjoy” he then says “We’ve designed a whole new kind of gameplay that is unique to the RetroRealms titles” emphasizing the unique construction of both horror universes.

Interestingly enough, both titles can bleed into each other when played together. Michael Myers can be seen adventuring through the world of Evil Dead , and Ash can traverse the realm of John Carpenter’s 1978 Halloween setting. Both titles will be sold separately, but these cross-realm features can only be accessed if fans own both. So, Boss Team Games and Wayforward have announced a Double Feature bundle with both titles.

Both titles will launch at a separate price of $24.99, and the Double Feature will set gamers back $49.99. The Double Feature is up for pre-order on Amazon right now, and a Collector’s Bundle for diehard fans can be found at the Boss Team Store now.

Both titles are released separately and in the Double Feature on October 18, just in time for spooky season.
