New Pixel 9 Pro Fold & Smartphone Lineup Revealed at Made by Google 2024

The Made by Google 2024 event unveiled numerous new devices to the Google ecosystem, including the flagship Pixel 9 Pro Fold and updates to the rest of the catalogue.

This year’s Made by Google 2024 event was loaded with announcements about the newest hardware announcements to the Google ecosystem, and unsurprisingly, most of the devices (including the Pixel wearables also revealed at the event) featured Google AI functionality unveiled at the Google I/O 2023 keynote . While Google revealed new wearable tech, they have also rolled out the red carpet for a smartphone lineup led by the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

• Google AI & Gemini Functionality – Power at your fingertips, literally. By pressing and holding the power button, Gemini, in tandem with Google AI, can increase productivity even in split screen mode. Google AI functionality extends to Google Photos and increases clarity with Gemini Nano. This is the AI functionality revealed at Google I/O 2023 but put into practice.
• Power Meets Productivity – With Pixel’s fastest and most powerful Tensor G4 processor (featuring 16 GB of RAM), the Pixel 9 Pro Fold can storm through any task equipped with AI functionality and use two times the screen space to get it done (local co-op not included).
• A Display That Matches – Featuring a crystal clear 1080 x 2424 OLED at 422, with PPI Smooth Display and a refresh rate of 60-120Hz on the outside, and an 8-inch Super Actua Flex display with 2076 x 2152 OLED at 373 PPI on the inside.
• Seven Years of Support – The Made by Google 2024 event promises the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will continue to be supported with OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for seven years.
• Photography At a Glance – The Pixel 9 Pro Fold brings a cameraman’s bag of features. An advanced triple rear camera system adorns the back of the device, featuring a 48 MP wide | 10.5 MP ultrawide with Macro Focus, a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto lens with Super Res Zoom up to 20×10 with superior optical quality. The selfie camera is no slouch, with an 87° ultrawide field of view included.
• Two Colour Optionality & Pricing – The Pixel 9 Pro Fold starts at $1799, and it is available in Porcelain and Obsidian.

Made by Google 2024 also brought out the rest of their updated smartphone catalogue, with new additions to the entire catalogue of Pixel 9 smartphones, all of which have been updated to deploy Google AI and Gemini, as well as the new Pixel 9 Pro Fold (especially the pro devices).

Like the revealed Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the newest devices added to Google’s smartphone catalogue all come with seven years of promised updates (possibly to curb planned obsolescence), all three devices are equipped with up to 120Hz refresh speeds and up to 100-hour battery life on extreme power saver mode to ensure the phones last far longer than the user.

The new Google Tensor G4 chipset is the core of these devices, designed to work seamlessly with Google AI and Gemini technology.
