Konami unveiled their brand new Silent Hill 2 remake story trailer today, blending the new with the original.

Bloober Team and Konami are revitalizing the Silent Hill gaming community with one of the most anticipated video game remakes that rivals the Resident Evil game remakes. They dropped a new story trailer for its highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake . What was cool about it was that the trailer featured Eddie and Mary, two important NPCs not shown in any of the new teasers or cinematics yet. It also contained an almost completely shot-for-shot recreation of the original story/gameplay trailer featured back in 2001’s E3 trailer.

The trailer is also backed by the original, if not remastered, version of the soundtrack that played in the original Silent Hill 2 trailer. It had a bunch of dialogue from Eddie and Mary. Eddie looked to remain physically faithful to the original with his backwards baseball cap and shooting people because they looked at him funny. Mary, too, closely mirrors the original character, including her outfit and hairstyle.

There are also more shots of combat and a longer peek at Silent Hill 2 remake’s ominous environments , with additional help from the all-new over-the-shoulder camera perspective. The film shows off specific areas such as the prison, the hotel, the park, and Brookhaven hospital, of course. All appear to have been faithfully recreated; they look almost identical to the originals.

While the game has been building positive and negative traction, this trailer could spark some more positivity for the remake. The combat reveal trailer back in January disheartened some fans through the general feedback on the video and the video likes. The negative reception of this video made Bloober Team president Piotr Babieno say the trailer didn’t “reflect the spirit of the game.”

He cited Konami as being responsible for marketing and promising that “when players see the real gameplay, the real game, they will judge it in a completely different way.” Ultimately, he is not wrong, and fans will see for themselves at launch. However, good marketing is also a major factor in selling the game as much as the gameplay .
