ASTRO BOT Dominates Sales, But Some Are Still Unhappy

The ASTRO BOT fever continues to surge, and while Astro rakes in sales this week, not everyone is happy with their inclusion in the PlayStation celebratory title.

ASTRO BOT continues to be a strong seller for PlayStation . A new report by Chris Dring of GamesIndustry.biz , posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account , outlines the game’s impressive sales performance compared to other titles. Dring notes, “Opening week is about a third lower than 2021’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart , but I expect a longer sales tail for Astro . It’s certainly sold more copies in the UK in just two days than Concord sold worldwide.” According to the sales figures, ASTRO BOT ‘s performance in the UK over just two days has already surpassed the global sales of Concord prior to its shutdown.

While Team ASOBI’s success with ASTRO BOT continues to surge, not everyone is happy with how things are unfolding for the new PlayStation mascot. John Garvin, the director of the PlayStation exclusive Days Gone , has voiced his frustration on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the Days Gone cameo in ASTRO BOT . His response can be seen in reply to Bend Studio’s congratulatory post celebrating ASTRO BOT ‘s launch.

Garvin continued by saying, “Haha, I see my character reduced to a cartoon shill promoting some small game and I’m being harsh? Sit down, my brotha, adults are talking,” in a separate post responding to fans on X . While Garvin seems particularly upset about his character Deacon being featured in ASTRO BOT , PlayStation studio Naughty Dog has embraced their cameos and appreciates their inclusion. Naughty Dog also posted on X, expressing excitement about spotting the cameos of their series in the Team ASOBI title. The post, along with the cameos, can be seen below.

While ASTRO BOT continues to lead in sales, reviews and the hearts of longtime PlayStation developers and fans, some will be unsatisfied.
