    Avatar: The Last Airbender Enters Season 2 Production & Reveals A New Cast Member

    Netflix Geeked Week Live is in full swing for 2024, and Friday the team at Netflix revealed the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is entering production on season 2, while also revealing a new cast member who is joining the show as a beloved character.

    Netflix Geeked Week continues to make many announcements including many exciting anime adaptations in the works, and today they’ve also announced an exciting anime adaptation to live-action with Avatar: The Last Airbender ‘s season two announcement. Netflix has confirmed that the live-action series is returning to production, but also they’ve pulled back the curtain on an exciting cast addition for the second season. The trailer for the upcoming season can be seen below.

    Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender Executive Producers Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani said “We’re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2. We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t. Mainly — we’re looking forward to seeing our gang all together again” regarding the new season in production.

    Netflix has also revealed that actress Miya Cech will be taking up the mantle of fan-favourite earth-bending character ‘Toph’ in the live-action series for season two. Cech is proud of her Chinese-Japanese heritage and is looking forward to the opportunity to portray these important parts of her identity on-screen. She says “One of the most incredible aspects of this show is the diversity of the Asian cultures in the ATLA world. Even though the universe is fantasy, it feels like every culture is represented in some way and tied to the history and traditions of that culture or country” with “It’s really amazing and a gift as an actor.”

    While Avatar: The Last Airbender is only just entering production for season two, more information will surely be revealed leading up to the exciting release from Netflix .
