Stardew Valley 1.6 Update Coming, Right Before U.S. Election

Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update has been revealed to go live for consoles and mobile on November 4, 2024, as stated by developer Eric Barone.

The long-awaited update for mobile and console finally has a release date with full patch notes for Stardew Valley . Stardew Valley ’s 1.6 update will miraculously find its way on mobile and consoles on November 4th, 2024, just a day before the U.S. election between Kamala Harris and Donald J. Trump. The changelog has a massive list of new things players can expect. Developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone is excited to hear all about players enjoying the latest update, as he announced the news on Sunday on X.

The 1.6 update went live on PC first back on March 19th , but the console and mobile versions had a bit more work to do for Barone and his team. “I’ve always released on PC first, because it’s sort of a ‘beta test’ to make sure there are no critical (e.g. save-destroying) bugs, which are a much bigger deal on consoles because they can’t be patched out as quickly,” Barone explained in response to a Stardew Valley player on X . “However, I never intended for the delay to be this long.”

The game broke records with concurrent players when the update went live on PC, so maybe the same magic will happen again. When the update went live on PC, it had a peak of 147,612 concurrent players, which was double the amount when the game initially released in 2016. In the last 24 hours, the game had about 87,000 concurrent players. So, it is very likely the console and mobile update will help spike player counts again.

Barone discussed how this November update will include everything through the version 1.6.9 patch, as the PC version received smaller, bug-related updates since then. The changelog on the website is massive. From adding a world map for Ginger Island to adding many new NPC dialogues, mobile and console gamers will be busy. Hopefully, they will not be too busy to vote at the U.S. polls the next day.

This new Stardew Valley update will bring a major new festival, two mini festivals, new craft recipes and items, a new type of farm, winter-themed villager outfits, new dialogue, the ability for cats and dogs to wear hats, a larger storage chest, extended late-game content, and eight-player co-op. Just to name a few of the many things on the list.

Stardew Valley ’s major 1.6 update will be released on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on November 4, 2025. The full 1.6 changelog can be found on the game’s website .
