During Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo announced the latest entry in the long-running Atelier franchise – Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist and the White Guardian . It’s coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2025.

The new game is a “completely offline” original story set in the world of the mobile game Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator .

In addition to a reveal trailer, the only detail Koei Tecmo has revealed is that the new game will star a brand new protagonist. The two characters we see in the trailer are a red-haired boy and a cat-eared girl, and given the history of the franchise, it seems likely the latter is the new protagonist.

While the trailer itself is scant on details, it does seem like The Red Alchemist and the White Guardian will share the gameplay stylings of most of the series, putting an emphasis on exploration, battling, and alchemy. Of course, Atelier Resleriana is a mobile experience that features microtransactions, but the “offline” moniker for this game could indicate it won’t have the features of its counterpart.

The Atelier franchise debuted on the original PlayStation, with the release of Atelier Marie: Alchemist of Salburg . It’s developed primarily by Gust, the studio also behind Mana Khemia and Ciel Nosurge , and published by Koei Tecmo. Since 1997 the franchise has seen over a dozen entries, with the most recent sub-series, the Atelier Ryza trilogy , drawing quite a bit of attention.

The next mainline entry in the series was announced last month, with Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land (yes they all have really long titles). That game is also planned for release on March, 21, 2025 on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.

Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator is currently available on iOS, Android, and PC via Steam.
