Analogue has finally unveiled its upcoming console, the Analogue 3D, which is hailed as a Nintendo 64 with 4K capabilities, and it is available for preorder on October 21st.

Analogue boasts a “reimagining of the N64 in 4K resolution” and a reimagining of “the first and perhaps greatest multiplayer system of all time,” with the Analogue 3D finally on the horizon. Originally forecasted for release in 2024, Analogue’s newest console is now scheduled to launch sometime in 2025, but fans can secure theirs as soon as pre-orders go live, as announced Thursday. Like other consoles in their catalogue (namely the Analogue Pocket), the 3D promises, for the first time ever, “100% compatibility” with the entire Nintendo 64 library .

On the company’s website, Analogue describes how the system works and what makes it so special: “Analogue 3D was developed to achieve unparalleled compatibility. Engineered directly into a 220k LE Altera Cyclone 10GX, the most powerful FPGA Analogue has ever used in a product. We spent four years developing a perfect way to experience N64 in FPGA for absolute accuracy. N64 is infamous for its difficulties with software emulation. 100% compatibility has never been achieved. Until now. Analogue 3D is designed to preserve video game history, with the respect it deserves.”

What sets Analogue apart is that its devices don’t use emulation technology to play games—they use the original software released for the consoles Analogue is designed after. The Analogue 3D deploys Analogue’s new 3Dos, specifically designed to preserve video game history with FPGA (field-programmable gate array) hardware, giving gaming history the “respect it deserves.” Analogue breaks the mould by not using emulation technology but the original software to offer players an authentic N64 experience. The company spent four years developing the 3D to achieve what they call “absolute accuracy.”

The Analogue 3D supports Bluetooth and has four original N64 controller ports, two USB ports, and an SD card slot. The 3D also includes a customized 8BitDo controller and will be region-free, allowing consumers to play all versions of CRTs by simply dropping a cartridge into the slot . Preorders for the Analogue 3D will be available starting October 21 at 11 a.m. ET for $249.99. Fans can mark their calendars and head to the official Analogue website when preorders open.
