FAST Boards allow rescuers to carry people who are too injured to walk on their own, but they also have all the gear that rescuers need to load, secure and move those people during emergency evacuations. The fire department said the boards are versatile and can be used for rescues from areas like confined spaces and water.

Multi-loop rescue straps are seven-foot-long straps with loops on both ends. The straps can be used by rescuers to quickly harness victims or other rescuers and move them in high-stress environments. The fire department said that the rescue straps give them an innovative tool to extricate people from life-threatening situations.

The gear was purchased with a grant from The Gary Sinise Foundation. The organization’s mission is to honor veterans, first responders, their families and those in need.

The foundation has helped build smart technology homes for severely wounded veterans, offers mental wellness initiatives and provides financial help for veterans and victims of trauma. The organization also sends its band, Gary Sinise & the Lt. Dan Band, which is fronted by Sinise, to shows around the world to honor veterans and first responders.
