    Chalmette man indicted for allegedly stabbing former acquaintance

    CHALMETTE, La. ( WGNO ) — The St. Bernard Parish District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday, June 18, that the man accused in an April attempted murder has been indicted.

    37-year-old Alvin Langford is accused of stabbing a man in the face, chest and leg following a disagreement between him and the victim on April 6.

    St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies said they responded to the call of a stabbing around 6 p.m. in the 2900 block of Marietta Street where they found the victim lying in the front of a home with several cuts to his body.

    Langford was later found and arrested on charges of aggravated second-degree battery following an investigation that revealed the men were acquaintances.

    According to the SBSO, “Langsford and the victim were acquaintances and had been involved in a prior disagreement.”

    He has since been indicted on charges of attempted second-degree murder and felony obstruction of justice.

    Langford is being held on a $715,000 bond.
