    JULY 27, next workshop

    • The Washington County Master Gardeners are offering a monthly series of gardening workshops taught by master gardener volunteers through October from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on designated Saturdays at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro. Classroom presentations and hands-on learning in demonstration gardens. Workshop topics include, watering, composting, attracting pollinators and converting lawn into gardens. $15 per workshop, includes all class materials. Registration required.     JULY 29, registration deadline

    • The Chambersburg Recreation Department , 235 S. Third St., Chambersburg, Pa., is asking community members to bring their treasures to a semi-annual, indoor yard sale Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon. Local home-based business vendors welcome. The cost per table for one day is $10, and the cost per table for two days is $15. The registration deadline is Monday, July 29. Call 717-261-3275.

    • The Chambersburg Recreation Department is offering a Fairy Garden Workshop at the Mill Creek Park Pavilion, 300 Eisenhower Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. For kids, ages 6 to 13, accompanied by an adult.     • The Penn State Extension Office is offering a workshop on Home Food Preservation: Tomatoes and Salsa . The class will be held Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ag Heritage Building (lower level), 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg, Pa.     • The Hagerstown Community College’s Alumni Association will hold its 31st HCC Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 13, at noon at Black Rock Golf Course, 20025 Mt. Aetna Road, Hagerstown. Open to all. Four-person scramble format. $150 per player, includes carts and greens fees, a cart lunch, after-tournament buffet dinner, mulligans, ball throws, individual and team prizes, longest drive and closest to the pin awards, a chance to win a Mercedes-Benz lease, pro shop certificates and more.     • The eighth annual Franklin County (Pa.) Veterans Affairs Golf Tournament is set for Friday, Aug. 30, at Penn National Golf Club, 3720 Club House Drive, Fayetteville, Pa. Hosted by the Franklin County Commissioners and the Franklin County Office of Veterans Affairs. Golfers play preferred course, based on availability. Two winning teams — Founders and Iron Forge. Each member of those winning teams will win a seven-night resort stay for two. $50,000 hole-in-one contest. Winners of the Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive contests from each course win a five-day, four-night cruise for two. In-game contests, raffles, networking opportunities and more. $520 per foursome, includes greens fees, carts, a light breakfast, lunch, on-course refreshments and an appreciation gift for each golfer. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m., shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch and awards presentation will conclude the day. Sponsorships available.
