    Normal Community beats Palatine, advances to state championship game

    CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Normal Community is back in the boys basketball state championship game.

    Braylon Roman scored 19 points and Jaheem Webber added 15 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Ironmen to a 58-38 win over Palatine in the class 4A state semifinals at State Farm Center on Friday.

    The Ironmen (32-5) will play in their first state title game since a loss to Lincolnshire Stevenson in the 2015 championship. Normal Community plays Homewood-Flossmoor for the class 4A state title at 7:30 p.m.

    Normal Community led 27-22 at halftime then outscored the Pirates 19-8 in the third quarter to take control of the game. Noah Cleveland and Niko Newsome added eight points apiece for Normal.
