Sholem Aquatic Center’s main pool remains closed

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The main pool and lap pool at Champaign’s Sholem Aquatic Center remain closed, with a reopening date still uncertain.

The closure began on Saturday when staff announced that there were mechanical issues with the pair of pools. However, their enclosed slides, tube slide, lazy river, and toddler areas are still open. Splash pads across the Champaign Park District remain open as well.

Sholem staff says they are taking it a day at a time and cannot give a solid timeframe as to when the pools could reopen, but they do not anticipate it being a season-long closure. All main pool and lap pool events are cancelled in the meantime until repairs are complete.
