URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois great Kendall Gill returned home to raise money for Cunningham House for the 35th straight year through his annual golf scramble.

The event, which raises money for youth homes in the area, raised $45,000, adding to its more than $800,000 total since beginning in 1989.

“It means a lot for me because I’m still involved in the community in Champaign Urbana and also I get to come back and represent the university,” said Gill, a member of the 1989-90 Final Four squad dubbed the Flyin’ Illini. “I represent the university up in Chicago too but it makes me proud to come back and see all of the people come back as well.”

Gill, Illinois athletic director Josh Whitman and Orlando Antigua participated in the scramble, held at the University Course in Savoy.
