    Ameren Illinois wrapping up Monday storm repairs, cleanup

    ILLINOIS (WCIA) — After Monday evening’s storms, related power outages in the Champaign region are now restored, Ameren confirmed Thursday.

    The thunderstorms produced winds up to 80 miles per hour, with tornado warnings being issued in some locations. The severe weather event caused damage in several communities, with downed trees and 64,000 power outages reported.

    Ameren crews have been hard at work ever since, removing trees, resetting new poles, stringing new wires and repairing underground equipment. Even workers from neighboring states assisted Illinois workers in the cleanup effort, officials said.

    As of Thursday, workers with Ameren Illinois are now starting to wrap up cleanup efforts.

    “We know this has not been easy for our customers and we are grateful for your patience,” Ameren Illinois posted on Facebook.

    Ameren said a some outages remain in Peoria, though they may not be storm-related.
