CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Farmers Market is adjusting to new changes. On Tuesdays, they’ll be sharing the space with construction crews as they work on the downtown plaza.

The vendors are still in the same parking lot, only closer to the Orpheum. Farmers Market managers said this new move has been helping them out. Last week as they had nearly 1,200 customers.

Organizers said the new location is bigger than before and easier to block off.

“That actually gave us more spaces,” said Food Access Manager Blake Hackler. “So, we can do more programing, we can invite more community groups, we can have more vendors. And having the access to the greenspace is really nice for just extra space for people to hang out and just enjoy the market.”

The Champaign Farmers Market will continue to run regularly until their last day of the season in October.
