Karley Yergler joining Illini Softball

(WCIA) — Karley Yergler was convinced she wanted to move away for her final two years of college softball. Then she became an aunt, giving her a better idea of what she values most.

“I realized I didn’t want to be away from my family,” said Yergler. “After spending so much time with them and like my new niece, which I now have a second niece.”

The Illinois signee is already familiar with life on her new campus. While at Parkland, she attended Fellowship of Christian Athletes meetings at Illinois.

Yergler recorded a 31-4 record in the circle with a 0.85 ERA and 278 strikeouts for the Cobras, helping them reach two NJCAA national tournaments.

The 2022 WCIA 3 Softball Athlete of the Year looks to make an instant impact on an Illini team that finished 21-31 last season.
