CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign County native Kylan Boswell knew he wanted to give back to his community when he transferred home to Illinois.

“Being from here, you know, a lot of people get back to me when I was a young kid, growing up, trying to get back into basketball,” said Boswell. “When I got here, I know how I can be an inspiration to kids who live in this area.”

The junior guard played two seasons with Arizona before entering the transfer portal and suiting up for his hometown team.

He joined forces with another homegrown Illini, 2009 graduate Trent Meacham, to host a Hometown Heroes Camp with the Champaign Park District.

“We went through pretty much all the skills in terms of ball handling, footwork, defense, shooting, some competitions,” said Meacham. “My goal was that the kids could, you know, they could compete, they could have fun, but can they leave with a little bit of inspiration.”

Boswell has two years of eligibility with Illinois.
