Legislators Mulé and Koslow Applaud Enhanced State Funding for Freeport PD, Local Law Enforcement
Recently, July 16, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record State investment of nearly $51 million for public safety on Long Island. Nassau County agencies received $1,494,692 and Suffolk County agencies received $1,307,677 for the GIVE funding cycle that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This funding also includes approximately $21.1 million in one-time capital funding to 39 police departments and sheriffs’ offices – including $387,042 for the purchase of law enforcement technology and equipment to allow those agencies more effectively solve, reduce and prevent crime.

Camp Ta-Kum-Ta first opened its cabin doors in the summer of 1984, welcoming children who were fighting cancer and their families — at no cost. Northern Forest Canoe Trail makes improvements to Valcour Island trails
Peru, NY – A multi-year effort to restore camping and paddling infrastructure on Lake Champlain’s historic Valcour Island continued this summer, with stewardship crews rebuilding a boardwalk along a cross-island hiking trail. The work was performed by the Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) stewardship crew and community volunteers, in partnership with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) and with support from a Lake Champlain Basin Program grant. The NFCT’s stewardship crew consists of professional staff and three interns.
