    Rebels basketball teams net one win each

    The Champlin Park boys and girls basketball teams each picked up key wins last week. The boys team earned a win over Centennial on Feb. 14, while the girls also notched a victory against Totino-Grace on Feb. 16.

    Champlin Park boys basketball won its opening game last week, beating Centennial 81-64 on Feb. 14 in Northwest Suburban Conference play.

    The Rebels then faced a tough 105-77 defeat to high-flying Totino-Grace on Feb. 16, adjusting their conference record to 7-9, 12-11 overall. Totino-Grace is currently ranked first in Class AAA as well as the Metro Top 10.

    Preston Thielke was Champlin Park’s top scorer with 28 points against the Eagles.

    Champlin Park girls basketball will play two games the following week, traveling to Anoka on Feb. 21 and hosting Coon Rapids on Feb. 23.

    Champlin Park girls basketball lost its opening game last week, as Centennial won 77-71 at Champlin Park High School. Savannah Belongia was the Rebels’ top scorer, putting up 17 against Centennial, while Allana Bates added 14.

    The Rebels responded with a low-scoring 30-28 win over Totino-Grace on Feb. 16, adjusting their record to 8-9 in conference, 9-15 overall.

    Nyomi Crushshon was Champlin Park’s top scorer with 12 points on a night where every scoring opportunity mattered.

    Champlin Park girls basketball will play two games the following week to end their regular season, hosting Anoka on Feb. 21 and traveling to Coon Rapids on Feb. 23.
